How to Make the Most of Your Time on Florida Beaches

It is no secret that Florida is home to an amazing array of beach destinations. From the glitz and glamour of South Beach to the secluded island beaches, you will find a stretch of sand to fit your needs. Be sure to keep these tips in mind so that you make the most of your beach time.

Different Beaches, Different Activities

Not all Florida beaches are created equal. Before you pick a beach to visit, be sure to consider the recreational options offered at the location. If you are looking for a remote and laid-back experience, consider one of Florida’s more secluded beaches. If your travel party wants to be in the middle of the action with plenty of beach activities, be sure to check into one of the many beaches in the Miami area. The beaches in the panhandle are good choices if you are looking for a balance of recreational opportunities and more space to spread out.

Make Sure You Have Your Supplies

You do not want to arrive at the beach empty-handed. If you are going to a more remote beach, don’t assume that they will have concession services. Be sure to pack enough water so that you don’t become dehydrated. Plenty of sunscreen is also a must, especially if the beach does not have an abundance of shade. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, people should be using sunscreen with at least SPF 30, applying regularly every two hours and using a waterproof sunscreen if swimming.

Consider the Weather

While Florida is known for its endless sunshine, there are also definitive weather patterns that make some months better than others if you are looking to take advantage of better beach conditions. While April and November are the driest months, they also come with cooler temperatures. The summer provides the warmest weather, however, you will also be at risk of experiencing the typical Florida summer afternoon thunderstorm. The location of the beach that you visit will also contribute to the weather that you experience. Beaches in the northern part of the state have more seasonal weather, while the southern beaches are more likely to deliver warm weather all year long.

You are sure to have an incredible time on your Florida beach vacation with the state’s miles of sandy coastline. Once you have researched and prepared, all that you need to do is dig your toes in the sand and enjoy it.
